Qurbani FAQs
How much does Qurbani cost in 2026?
Qurbani prices with Muslim Charity start from £19.95, depending on the type of animal and the country of distribution.
How many animals should be sacrificed per person?
Each eligible Muslim is required to sacrifice one small animal (such as a sheep or goat), or one share in a large animal (like a cow, which is divided into seven equal shares).
Where can I donate my Qurbani online?
You can donate your Qurbani securely and easily at muslimcharity.org.uk/qurbani. The process is simple and easy.
Why should I donate Qurbani through a charity instead of doing it myself?
It is highly encouraged to perform the Qurbani yourself and distribute the meat locally to your friends and neighbours. However, if you are unable to do that, then Muslim Charity is here to help you fulfil your duty of Qurbani by sharing the meat with needy families around the world.
Donating through Muslim Charity ensures your Qurbani is:
- Carried out in accordance with Islamic guidelines
- Distributed to those most in need, especially in crisis zones
- Managed ethically and efficiently by experienced team
- It also removes the logistical challenges of sourcing, slaughtering and distributing the meat yourself
Can I donate my Qurbani to a specific region of the world?
Yes, Muslim Charity allows you to choose from a list of regions during the donation process. These include our Cheapest Qurbani (in India and Nepal), Group Asia (Bangladesh, Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sri Lanka), Group Africa (Kenya, Somaliland, Somalia and Uganda) and the Middle East (Lebanon, Palestine and Yemen).
Can Qurbani be performed in advance?
No, Qurbani must be carried out after the Eid prayer, during the three days of Eid (10th–12th Dhul Hijjah). Any sacrifice before the Eid prayer is not valid as Qurbani and must be redone.
Is there a difference between Qurbani and Sadaqah?
Yes. Qurbani is a specific act of worship during Eid al-Adha with its own rules, timing and intention. Sadaqah is a voluntary charity that can be given at any time and for various causes.
Can women perform Qurbani?
Yes, Qurbani is equally obligatory for women who meet the eligibility criteria (adult, sane, and above the Nisab threshold). Women can arrange Qurbani on their own or through a charity.
Is Qurbani wajib (mandatory) or sunnah?
According to the Hanafi school, Qurbani is wajib (mandatory) for eligible Muslims. Other schools of thought consider it a Sunnah Mu’akkadah (a strongly recommended Sunnah). Either way, it is a highly rewarding act that should not be neglected.
